Inmate Duane Owen of Florida’s death row was put to death on Thursday night by lethal injection, over forty years after he killed a 14-year-old babysitter and a single mother of two in separate incidents.
Owen was found guilty of the rape and murder of 38-year-old Georgianna Worden in Palm Beach County in 1984 as well as the rape and death of adolescent Karen Slattery.

Johnson said that her decision to work in law enforcement was motivated by the way the authorities handled her sister’s case and the effort cops put forth.
